Obituary

Elyuease Voigt Schmidt, known as "Miss Ellie" or "Tootie" to most, went home to be with the Lord on September 29, 2013 at the age of 87. "Miss Ellie" was born on June 4, 1926 in Luling Texas to Homer M. and Hulda Berger Voigt. In 1948 she married her husband of 65 years Clinton "Smitty" Schmidt. This union was blessed by two sons, David and Kenny. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary HU Wood Unit 245. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards/ dominos, and will also be remembered as an avid bowler. She especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She had a special love for all her nieces and nephews and their children. She is preceded in death by her husband Clinton Schmidt (August 30, 2013), her parents, her sister Doris Moore and her brothers-in-law, James Peter Moore and Sonny Dietz. Survivors include her sons, Kenny Schmidt, David Schmidt and wife Cindy; sister, Rosalyn Dietz; sisters– in-law, Shirley Malone and husband Stanley, Betty Schmidt, Judy Schmidt and Madelyn Schmidt; brother-in-law, Charles Schmidt and wife Betty; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday October 1, 2013 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Layne Dietz, Ellie's nephew officiating. Interment will follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Dietz, Nicholas Serold, Rodney Bargfrede, Hilmar Cowey, Jr., Ralph Schmidt and Darrell Schmidt. The family would like to thank the staff of Remarkable Health Care, GRMC, Dr. TamTam, Patricia Ramey, Guadalupe Regional Hospice Services and Tres Hewell Mortuary for their excellent care and support. A very special thank you to Mary Rohde for being our rock at this difficult time.
