Obituary

Emmett James Donnelly, age 83 of Seguin, passed away on September 23, 2011. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Rev. Simon Brzozowski officiating. Emmett was born on April 11, 1928 in New York City, New York to Emmett Michael and Katharine Harrigan Donnelly. Emmett proudly served his country in the United States Army. He will be remembered as a high school science teacher and guidance counselor. He and his wife, Monette traveled full-time in a R.V. for over 25 years where they camped in every state except Alaska and Hawaii. In later years they moved to Seguin to be near family. He volunteered at Guadalupe Regional Medical Center, loved history, loved his cats and watching football. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Kevin Drue Donnelly. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Monette Drue Hamilton Donnelly; sons, James Michael Donnelly and wife Marjorie and Patrick Emmett Donnelly and wife, Lynne; daughter, Mary Monette Benoit; grandchildren, Thomas James Donnelly, Timothy Martin Donnelly, Mark Donnelly and wife Michelle and Christopher Donnelly and wife Erin; great-grandchildren, Finnigan Donnelly, Beckett Donnelly and Jacob Donnelly. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to any hospice organization of choice.
