Eugene "Gene" Charles Mikes, age 79, died peacefully on January 13th 2023 at the home he shared with his wife Terri in Seguin, Texas.

Gene was born December 8th 1943 in Shiner, Texas to Charlie and Mary Mikes. He graduated from Seguin High School and recently retired from his appliance repair business. Gene was happily married to Terri Mikes, his partner in life for over 48 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Mary Mikes. Gene is survived by his wife, Terri Mikes, daughter DoRae Shipman, son Derek Mikes and his wife Nancy, grandson Robert Shipman, granddaughters Camdyn and Nalani Mikes, sister Jeanette Siltmann and her husband Leslie, nephew Drew Engelke, niece Dawn Garvin, great nephews Hayden and Harrison Engelke and Jacob Garvin, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends.

Besides spending time with his family and friends, Gene had a love for all things Elvis Presley, fishing, drawing, playing dominoes and bowling. He had a friendly manner and kind energy. He touched many lives with his generosity and compassion. Gene will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary with The Rev. Canon Stanislaw Fiuk officiating. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers will be, DoRae Shipman, Robert Shipman, Camdyn Mikes, Nancy Mikes, Drew Engelke and Dawn Garvin. Recognized as Honorary pallbearers will be, Nalani Mikes, Wayne Vetter, James Mikesh, Harry Engelke and Leslie Siltmann.
