Evelyn Marie Klein Engelke, age 85 of Seguin, passed away on July 9, 2014. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 3 to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at Emanuel's Lutheran Church at 10 a.m. with Pastor Paul J. Zwarich officiating. Interment will follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. A reception will follow at the American Legion H. U. Wood Post 245 Hall in Seguin. Evelyn was born on July 29, 1928 in Gonzales, Texas to Anton and Mary (Erck) Klein. She married Milton August Engelke on December 18, 1946 in Seguin, Texas. Evelyn retired from Seguin Independent School District as a bus driver, a job she dearly loved. Evelyn has been a member of Emanuel's Lutheran Church since 1951 and Emanuel's Lutheran Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #245 and the Geronimo VFW Post 8456. She will be remembered as a wonderful cook. She loved bus trips to Coushatta and spending time with family and friends at her son's fishing tournaments and at the American Legion Hall. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Milton August Engelke, her parents and her brothers, Willie, Oscar, Tony and Alton Klein. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Seidenberger and husband Phil; sons, Miles Engelke and wife Debra and Ricky Engelke and wife Debbie; sister, Ruby Engelke; brother-in-law, Preston Engelke and wife Doris; sisters-in-law, Billie Klein and Dorothy Klein; grandchildren, Bree Vickers and husband Todd, Colton and Corgan Engelke and Ryan Taylor; great-grandchildren, Klein, Bryce and Blaine Vickers; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Colton Engelke, Travis Engelke, Dustin Engelke, Todd Vickers, Danny Buckner, Ronnie Glenewinkel, Steve La Ferrara and Ralph Ramos. The family would like to thank the staff of Argent Court, especially her Argent Angels, Nierma Rodriguez, Debra Sealey, Mary Cervantes, Elsa Rodriguez, Justice Holmes and Commie Holmes for their loving care.
