Neumann
July 11, 1928 – September 23, 2024
Evelyn Louise Kallies Neumann, age 96 of Seguin, passed away on
September 23, 2024. Evelyn was born in Gonzales County, Texas on
July 11, 1928 to Frances Ida (Jahns) and Arnold August Kallies. She
attended both Dowdy School and Demmer School and was a graduate
of the Dowdy High School Class of 1945. She married Roland Neumann
on September 5, 1948.
For seven years she worked for the Southwestern Bell Telephone
Company and in 1969 went to work for the Seguin Independent School
District as an instructional teacher's aide until retiring in 1994.
Evelyn will be remembered as an active member of Emanuel's Lutheran
Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School for ten years.
She was a member of the Hermann Sons Life Seguin Lodge # 37 where
she served many years as the recording secretary and dance class
officer. Other memberships included the American Legion Auxiliary Post
245 in Seguin, serving as the past education chairman. She was also
actively involved as a den mother for the Cub Scouts in Seguin.
Evelyn loved dancing to polka music, Friday nights at the Kingsbury
Opry and attending other country music shows. She also enjoyed
fishing, camping, playing bingo, dominoes, cards, bunco and board
games. Family was very important to her and she especially loved
spending time with her grandchildren.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her loving husband Roland, her parents,
her brother Leslie "Pete" Kallies and his wife Dorothy "Dottie" and
step-mother, Clara Kallies.
Survivors include her children, Kenneth Neumann, Danny Neumann
(Phyllis), Brenda Schrank (Mike Heinrich), Steven Neumann, Laura
Major (Gene); grandchildren, Stacey Vu (Robinson), Christie Bacher
(Adam), Derek Neumann (Chelsea), Sarah Zamora (Casey), Bradley
Schrank, Phillip Schrank (Diana), Dana Neumann (Lorenzo Pardo), EJ
Major; 14 great grandchildren: Evelyn (Evie), Jack, Violet, Harry,
Charlotte, Abigail, William, Avery, Easton, Beckett, Ayla, Maya, Derek
and Emmett. She is also survived by many numerous nieces, nephews,
other loving family members and a host of friends.
Visitation will begin on Monday, September 30, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. at Tres
Hewell Mortuary Chapel followed by funeral services at 10:30 a.m. with
the Reverend Marcus Bigott officiating. Interment will follow in San
Geronimo Cemetery. A reception will be announced.
Serving as pallbearers will be Derek Neumann, Bradley Schrank, Phillip
Schrank, EJ Major, Jack Vu, Basil Kallies, and Jeffrey Kallies.
