Florence Julia "Nina" Bruns was born in Marfa, Texas, on September 8, 1910, and she died in Seguin, Texas, on September 22, 2008. She was married to Joe L. Bruns, who died on June 24, 1992. She was survived by her three children, Dorothy Meade Bauer and her husband, Sydney M. Bauer, Tom C. Bruns and his wife, Martha, and Joe H. Bruns and his wife, Sudy. Her grandson, John Bruns, preceded her in death.

Nina was raised in Marfa, Texas, and attended Sul Ross University, George Washington University and graduated from The University of Texas with a degree in education. She and her husband founded Bruns Farm Supply and later she taught school for many years in Austin, Texas.

She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, DAR, DRT, the Seguin Conservation Society, the Guadalupe Valley Hospital Auxiliary, the Seguin Historical Society, the Seguin Study Club, the Delphians, and the Lazy Daisy Garden Club.

She had 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and she had just celebrated her 98th birthday.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, September 25 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Her grandsons, Meade Bauer, Mark Bauer, Thomas Bruns, Winston Bruns, Morgan Bruns, Robert Khuzami, and Jim Head will serve as her pall bearers.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Argent Court, Guadalupe Valley Nursing Center and Guadalupe Regional Hospice for their loving care of Nina. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church or the charity of your choice.
