Florence Jubela Schmidt, age 76 of Kingsbury, passed away on November 28, 2008. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2008 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 1, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Pastor John Schwartz officiating. Interment will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery. Florence was born on December 14, 1931 in Seguin, Texas to Willie and Julia Bading Jubela. She was a longtime telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. Florence was a life member of the VFW Post Auxiliary #9213 in McQueeney, Texas and will be remembered for running the Post Canteen for several years on Bingo Night. Her snickerdoodle cookies were always taken to the Audie Murphy V. A. Hospital in San Antonio. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Schmidt, her parents, three brothers and one sister. Survivors include her son, James Franklin Schmidt; daughter, Judith Neville; sister, Lucille Trusler; granddaughters, Heather Pirkle and husband, Kevin, Mara Nelson, and Jane Davis and husband, Travis; eight great-grandchildren, Elaine, Sarah, Jefferson, James, Jackson, Lauren, Luke and Adam; former daughter-in-law and friend, Dayna Schmidt; numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Travis Davis, Kevin Pirkle, Joseph Nelson, Danny Trusler, Mike Kunze and Leon Mrazek. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Jubela and Billy Patek. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any hospice organization of choice.
