Floyd C. Mueller, age 78, of San Antonio, passed away April 13, 2012 after a brief illness. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from 11 am until time of service at 2 pm at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Floyd was born February 19, 1934, in Karnes County, Texas. He is survived by daughters Sheryl Shupe of Kingsbury, Zarena and husband Terry Post of Austin, and Suzanne Kraemer of Irving; brother Roland and wife Eileen of San Antonio; three grandchildren Katherine (Shupe) and husband Robert DeVet of Lubbock, Kimberly Shupe of Seguin, and William and wife Alicia Shupe of Moline, Illinois; one great-grandchild Lydia Shupe; and supportive and caring friends that called him daily. Floyd was preceded in death by his wife Shirley (Dietert); sons-in-law William F. Shupe and James Kraemer; and parents Adolph and Rosa (Krueger) Mueller. Floyd attended school in Deweesville, Texas, through the eighth grade when the family moved to Cibolo, Texas. He attended Lower Valley School until the tenth grade and graduated from Schertz-Cibolo High School in 1951. He went into the Air Force as a cadet at Lackland Air Force Base in 1953 and was then stationed in Boise, Idaho, for three years total military service. He attended Coyne Radio and TV School in Chicago, and subsequently worked for 35 years at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio repairing and calibrating electronic test equipment, and then setting labor and work load standards for these activities. He very much enjoyed his work – it felt like playing to him and he looked forward to going to work. He valued the accuracy required in the work. Floyd was married (November 3, 1957) to his wife Shirley for 44 years. He was proud of his three daughters and their accomplishments, and it pleased him to see in them characteristics of himself. He was especially handy around the house, able to fix just about anything including clocks, and often did small jobs at the church. His hobbies included woodworking, stamp and license plate collecting and photography. Floyd was a member of Good News Lutheran Church in San Antonio and in recent years continued to regularly attend school reunions. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
