Frank Edward Shanafelt, age 88 of Seguin, passed away on March 27, 2014. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at First Baptist Church followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Brice Mandaville and Howard Hudiburg officiating. Interment under the auspices of the masonic lodge will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery. Frank was born in Stamford Texas to Ralph Otto and Bessie (Hackney) Shanafelt on June 13, 1925. He worked in the oil and gas industry for many years in Texas, New Mexico, Wyoming, Utah and Colorado having retired in 1986. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge in Wyoming. Frank and Blanche moved to Seguin in 1991. He was an active member of First Baptist Church. He enjoyed reading, playing 42 and fishing. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Ralph B. Shanafelt, and his sister Allene Parker. Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Blanche Shanafelt; children, Larry Shanafelt, Allen Shanafelt and wife Lynne and Janice Bowman and husband Kenny; grandchildren, Sally Tolbert and husband Dustin, Rachel Martinez, Caleb Shanafelt, Gabe Shanafelt and wife Jo Anna, Genevieve Lucas and husband Brad and Evie Bowman; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Harvey (Red) Rivers and wife Pat, Milburn (Cotton) Rivers and wife Ann; sister-in-law, Adele Shanafelt; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
