Franklin Taylor Behrendt, 66, of New Braunfels and formerly of Seguin and Gonzales, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017 surrounded by loved ones.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 9 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in GONZALES followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Graveside services and interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston. Frank was born on July 29, 1950. He was the son of Gilbert Robert "Buster" and Olivia Jane (Batey) Behrendt. Frank graduated from Seguin High School in 1968 and earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Southwest Texas State University. He devoted his career to the care of others, both at Austin State Hospital and to the students in the Gonzales, Waelder, and Nixon school districts. He was well known for his unique sense of humor and the great love he had for his wife, children, and grandchildren.Frank was preceded in death by Gilbert R. Behrendt, F. W. Batey, Olivia Rather Batey, Gilbert C. Behrendt, Tony Voges Behrendt, and Hank Wahlen.He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Therese, daughter Jennifer (Brian) Gottschalk, son Gary (Julie) Schroeder, mother Jane Behrendt, brothers Johnny Behrendt, Eddie (Missy) Behrendt, Robert "Brack" (Kathie) Behrendt, sisters Martha (Roy) Krametbauer, and Ann (Randy) Odom, his loving grandchildren Avery and Grayson Gottschalk and Autumn and Hudson Schroeder, and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all.Serving as pallbearers are his nephews, Shawn Behrendt, Joseph Krametbauer, Beau Laird, Sean Laird, Kyle Gastring, James Odom, Mark Behrendt, Edward Behrendt, Cody Dacy, and Braxton Behrendt. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
