Fred Lawder Wadleigh, 97 of Seguin, passed away on June 11, 2017. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery. Fred was born on August 18, 1919 in Joplin, Missouri to George A. and Mildred (Lawder) Wadleigh. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1942 with a Bachelors of Business Administration. He then entered the United States Coast Guard where he honorably served on the USS Bayfield. After his service, Fred returned to Texas. He and his friend E.A. Weyel owned and operated Guadalupe Distribution Company, until they decided to sell it and retire. Owning a beer distribution company certainly helped Fred's fondness of beer, something his friends will always remember. Fred was also an avid 9 pin bowler at the Zorn Bowling Club, as well as a member of the Elks Lodge and the Silver Center. Fred enjoyed his daily morning trips to the bank for coffee and donuts, lunch at the Silver Center, and dinner with his lady friends. He was a unique man who will be remembered and missed by many. Fred is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by many friends and loving caretakers.
