Gaile Mary Sawyer, age 73 of Seguin, passed away on September 23, 2014. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Layne Dietz officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Gaile was born prematurely on July 20, 1941 in Caribou, Maine to Gilbert and Rebecca (Blair) Pelletier. One of ten siblings, the family moved to Connecticut when she was 12 years old. She met Frank C. Sawyer, Jr. there and they married on July 22, 1961, thus becoming an Army wife. Retiring to Seguin with her husband, Gaile enjoyed her cafeteria work with the Seguin Independent School District. She is preceded in death by her parents and several siblings. Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years, Frank C. Sawyer, Jr. of Seguin; son, Nelson Sawyer and his wife Maggie of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter, Norma Engelmann and husband Douglas of Seguin; grandchildren, Heidi Engelmann of Seguin, Tiffany Engelmann of San Antonio, TX, Korey Engelmann and wife Twilla of Seguin, Molly Sawyer, Christopher Sawyer, and Benjamin Sawyer of Colorado Springs, CO and Erin Greszler and husband Brian of Dayton, OH; four great-grandchildren; surviving siblings, Viola Cochran of Presque Isle, Maine, Gilman Pelkey and wife Angeline of Willimantic, CT, Joseph Pelkey and wife Denise of No. Windham, CT, Judy Hopkins and husband John of Ashford, CT, and Bonnie Caron and husband Henry of No. Windham, CT; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members. Serving as pallbearers will be Douglas and Korey Engelmann, Freddie Booker, II, Bennie Cockran, Pilo Sanchez and James Schriewer. "God saw her tired, a cure not meant to be.
