Gary Lee Hartman, age 72 of Stockdale and Seguin, passed away on July 24, 2012. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 27, 2012 from Noon to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 710 N. Austin in Seguin with Rev. Keith Wyatt and Rev. Tom Jones officiating. A reception will follow at the Weinert House, 1207 N. Austin in Seguin. Private interment will take place at a later date at his beloved ranch. Gary was born on September 17, 1939 in Seguin, Texas to Fritz J. and Ida Winsauer Hartman. He graduated from Seguin High School, class of 1957. After graduation he attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. He was a motorcycle officer in San Antonio Police Department before transferring to the Seguin Police Department under Chief of Police Leroy Schneider. He went on to become a cattle truck driver for Harrell Cattle Co in Gonzales before starting his own business, Hartman Janitorial Supplies and Gun Shop. He entered into the independent cattle broker business and ranched, raised Brahman cattle throughout his life. He entered into the insurance business with his wife at Hartman Insurance Agency. He semi-retired in 2000. He was active in Wilson County 4-H and a Life member of San Antonio Livestock Expedition. He is a long time member of the American Brahman Association, Texas Brahman Association, and South Texas Brahman Association. He was one of the founders of the Alamo Gun Collectors Association, an Endowment member of the National Rifle Association, and member of the Winchester Arms Collectors Association. His parents and his brother John Hartman (July 22, 2012) preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Diane Jackson Hartman; children, Christopher Hartman and wife Jennifer, Codi Denice Warrick and Chad Hartman and wife Elizabeth; grandchildren, Dustin, Jakki, R. D., Taylor, Colton, Robynn, Misty, Tyner and Ellea; brother, Pat Hartman and wife Donna; sister-in-law, Diana Jackson; nieces and nephews, David Hartman, Thomas Hartman, Barbara Hartman, Glenn Jackson and wife Andrea and Pamela Jackson Crowther and husband James; numerous other loving family members and friends. Pallbearers: Arnold Saunders, Jerry Simon, Gordon Withers, Glenn Jackson, Maurice Dixon, Tink Herzog, the Honorable Marvin Quinney, Joe Broussard.
