Gary Pendergrass, age 61 of Seguin, passed away on August 24, 2014. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Tom Jones officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date. Gary was born on March 3, 1953 in Lubbock Texas to Kenneth Dean and Joye Juanelle (Darter) Pendergrass. Gary was a proud graduate of East Texas State University in Commerce. His love and passion in life was to help people feel good about themselves through fitness and powerlifting. He was honored to be a member of the Texas Powerlifting Hall of Fame. Joking, making people laugh and spending quality time with his family were some of his greatest joys. Gary is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Steven Pendergrass and his step-son Gilbert Yzaguirre. Survivors include his loving partner of 17 years, Susan Rinn; son, Vincent Pendergrass and wife Christina; daughter, Monica Pendergrass; granddaughter, Rose Marie Pendergrass; sisters, Tammy Pettie and husband Jim Woodard, and Renee Feagley and husband Monty; sister-in-law, Kristi Pendergrass; former wife and friend, Melba Caballero; step-son, Albert Yzaguirre; step-grandchildren, Katelynn Perez and McKenzie Yzaguirre; special friend and business associate, Jay Patel; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
