Gene Green, age 85 of Seguin, passed away on November 24, 2023. Gene was born on July 30, 1938, in Luling, Texas to Lola Mae (Forester) and Howard Russell Green. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Gene spent a short time working for Sweeney Grocery Distributors as a truck driver, but most of his life was spent working in the Drilling business for Pursley Drilling, Encuentro Drilling, then purchasing his own Drilling Rig as the owner of G&B Water Well Drilling. He was a licensed Texas Water Well Driller.
Gene enjoyed many things in life, but his most beloved hobby was playing and performing musically. He was known as the Music Man. He had a voice like no other, and played Honky Tonks and Bars all across South Central Texas. He loved to Barbecue (Brisket King) for family gatherings and being with his family. He loved making people laugh by telling all types of jokes, and being the entertainer.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Anne Green; daughter Cynthia Green, son Mark Green & wife Christine, daughter Anita Bradish & husband Michael, son Howard (Russell) Green & wife Lori, daughter Angela Moreno & husband Rene, son Eric McGill & partner Chona, son Ross McGill & wife Emily; grandchildren, Stacey & Jarrett, Amanda, Amy & Caleb, Kelsie & Josh, Lance, Emily & Jordan, Taylor, Wesley, Ashly, Sunnie, Brooke, Aubrey, Joshua, Moriah, and Elijah; 23 great-grandchildren; siblings Walter Green, Art Green, Peggy & Larry Hooks, and Patsy Hornsby. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. with Brad Babel officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Hall Cemetery between Luling and Lockhart, Caldwell County. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Lance Green, Jarrett Watts, Jordan Valadez, John Baker, Brian Baker, and Clinton Baker. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Pete Green, George Green, and Glen Green.
