IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George Raymond
Alston
January 14, 1922 – April 28, 2023
George Raymond Alston, age 101 of Stockdale, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, April 28th, 2023.
He was born in 1922 in Harris County, at his family's dairy farm home, he was one of 10 children to Willis Patent Alston and Mary (Maguire) Alston.
He is preceded in death by his wife Mussetta Alston, as well as his son Robert "Bobby" Alston of Seguin. He is survived by his daughter Marsha McDaniel, her husband Ronald McDaniel of Gonzales, his daughter-in-law Susan Alston of Seguin, grandson Wes Alston of Stockdale, his great-grand daughter Penelope Alston, as well as multiple local family members including Kathryn Demny of Seguin, Charles "Chuck" Demny of Seguin, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends around Stockdale/Union Valley, as well as other areas of Texas and Arkansas.
George and his wife, Mussetta Raley Alston met in Houston, and were married young while he was in the Army Air Corps, serving in Burma and various other places during World War II, they remained married for 62 years until her death in 2003. They lived in many places across Texas and moved from town to town as George grew his career with Southwestern Bell Telephone, starting off by climbing poles, and finishing his career as supervisor/director of the SWB Training Center in Dallas. Retiring in 1975, George and his wife moved to Stockdale to reside on the family ranch, which had been in the Alston name since the early 1880's.
He enjoyed country living, raising cattle for market, as well as building memories for his family through hard work and investment lessons to anyone who would listen. George could always be found reading a book or newspaper, researching his family genealogy and was always in the mood to tell a good story about his travels and adventures.
A non-traditional Memorial Service will be held at the Alston's G2 Ranch on a to be determined date, as the family plans to spread his cremated remains under a large heritage oak tree in his favorite pasture.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Remarkable Healthcare for taking such good care of him and treating him as they would their own family member. They would also like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice for keeping him comfortable in his final days.
