Obituary

George Henry Grein, age 88 of McQueeney, passed away on May 5, 2013. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 2 to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. The recitation of the rosary led by the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will be held on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Gregory J. Nevlud officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in St. James Catholic Cemetery. George was born in Guadalupe County on September 12, 1924 to Alfred and Hilda Muehl Grein. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. George will be remembered as a long time car salesman in Guadalupe County. He served one term as Guadalupe County Commissioner in Precinct 4. He was an active member of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3412 and Assembly 2055. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Vivian Grein, his grandson, Graison Grein, his parents, brother, Van Grein and his sisters, Adolphina Kirchner and Josephine Glenewinkel. Survivors include his children, Greg Grein and wife Iris, Candy Grant and husband Phil, Glenn Grein and wife Rhonda, and Melissa Skogman and husband Darrel; sister, Erna Winsauer; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Catholic Church, 510 S. Camp, Seguin, Texas, 78155, the Knights of Columbus, P. O. Box 1191, Seguin, Texas, 78156 or to the charity of one's choice.
