Obituary

George D. Koepsel, Jr. age 86 of Seguin, passed away on January 11, 2015. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jim Price officiating. Interment will follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. George was born on August 27, 1928 in McQueeney Texas to George D. and Hulda (Koehler) Koepsel. He was a member of the Seguin High School Class of 1945 and attended Draughn's Business College in 1947. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Sons of Hermann Lodge. He began his career at SMI (CMC) in 1956 until his retirement in early 1992. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and dancing and drinking a cold beer. He also enjoyed Monday night cards with friends, the Dallas Cowboys, fish frys, barbecues, western books and movies and Chocolate! Mostly George enjoyed doing these things with his family and friends. George is preceded in death by his first wife, Marciel Reiley Koepsel, his parents, son-in-law, Jody Osborne, brothers-in-law, Roger Meckel and Leroy Reiley, and nephews, Scott Meckel and Rudy Caron. Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce Kluth Koepsel; children, Glen Koepsel and wife Beverly, Jeanine Osborne, Mark Koepsel and wife Celeste, Julie Perrill, Brian Perrill and wife Kelli, and Michelle Saengerhausen and husband Blake; grandchildren, Byron Osborne and partner Roxan Schultze, Jessica Coffey and husband Tyler, Jacque Ethridge and husband Matt, Kristen Robertson and husband Michael, Heidi Ulrich and husband Chris, Dustin Koepsel, Christopher Koepsel, Philip Elley and wife Jennifer, and Ashley Perrill; great-grandchildren, Ty and Trista Coffey, Bella Jo Schultze Osborne, Micah Ethridge, Logan Robertson, Colby and Cason Ulrich, and Ashlynn Koepsel; sisters, La Nell Meckel and Beverly Caron; his large, loving Reiley family; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be James Sheppard, Johnny Schriewer, Joe Branecky, Larry Reiley, Jimmy Reiley and Albert Zipp, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Vernon Reiley, Fritz Grimm and Orville Reiley.
