Gertrude "Gertie" Shields, age 94 of Seguin Texas formerly of Alamogordo New Mexico, passed away on March 29, 2016. Gertie was born on August 20, 1921 in Clayton, New Mexico to Fred Lawrence and Lizzie (Kile) Boggs. Her husband Thomas Paul Shields, son, Thomas Lawrence Shields and grandson, Thaddeus Lawrence Shields and nine siblings preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughters, Linda Richison and husband Lonnie of Seguin Texas, and Jackie Edmiston and husband Dewey of Tyler Texas; daughter in law, Bette Shields of Alamogordo New Mexico; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends. Private services will be held at a later date. Gordon Hinckley stated, "The wind is blowing and I feel like I am the last leaf on the tree." Mother was the last leaf on her little tree. She outlived all her nine siblings. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
