Gilbert Holm, 80, of Seguin, Texas passed away on July 15, 2022. His friends and family knew him as Buddy.

Buddy was born May 4, 1942 to Gilbert A and Ruth Holm of Quincy, IL, who preceded him in death.   He grew up with three sisters and one brother; Ruth Timpe (deceased), June Merker, Jeanette Cook, and Howard (Hob) Holm, all of Quincy, IL.

Buddy spent his life surrounded by his family.  He is survived by his wife, Velma, of 56 years and their sons Steve (wife Susan) and Chris (wife Patti).  Among many things, Buddy taught his sons how to be a loving husband, the meaning of hard work, how to pinch a penny and a love for the Lord.  In addition to his time with Velma, Buddy's greatest joy came from the time he spent with his 4 grandchildren Clark, Cooper, Zoe and Ella. He especially loved building things with (and for) each one of them.

Buddy's career was in electronics starting at McDonnell Aircraft and ending at Motorola where he retired after 36 years.

In retirement Buddy loved making things for Velma.  He could be found building a wooden Christmas ornament, a piece of furniture or restoring a neglected heirloom. You might also find him at Grace Lutheran Church spending time with his church family and friends or at home getting ready to see the country on the next camping adventure with Velma.

Buddy was a good husband, father, and friend.  Heaven has gained a great man. He will be sorely missed.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Seguin, Texas with the Rev. Roger Hotopp officiating.  A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.  Private interment will be held later at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.  It will be livestreamed at https://cloud.mediafusionapp.com/mf/hewell_20220721.html.
