Gladys Hitzfelder Freudenberg, age 87 of Seguin, passed away August 21, 2016. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Cross Church with Rev. Jim Price officiating. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Gladys was born on February 24, 1929 in Fratt, Texas to Louis and Bertha (Steinbring) Hitzfelder. She grew up in the Fratt area of Bexar County, Texas and was a graduate of Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio, Texas. She and her husband, Rev. Clifton J. Freudenberg, moved to Seguin in 1961 where he served as Pastor at Cross Church. For 55 years Gladys was an active member of the Cross Church Choir. She was a long time member of the Seguin PTA and served in both Cub Scout and Girl Scout leadership roles. She was a founding member of the Texas A & M Mothers Club, Seguin Chapter. Her most precious time was spent with her children and grandchildren. Gladys is preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Rev. Clifton J. Freudenberg, her parents and her brother, Leroy Hitzfelder. Survivors include her children, Barbara Koehler and husband Steve, Paul Henry Freudenberg and wife Cindy, and Amy Ruth Stodghill and husband Lance; grandchildren, Alison Portis and husband Stoney, Reagan Thomas Freudenberg and wife Kelsey, Ryan William Freudenberg and wife Callie, Luke Stodghill and Emma Stodghill; great-grandson, Leif Hayden Portis; sister-in-law, Ora Mae Alderman; numerous cousins, other loving family members and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Reagan Freudenberg, Ryan Freudenberg, Luke Stodghill, Stoney Portis, Karl Brehm, Chris Brehm and Cody Henderson.
