On August 7, 1945, Glen Royce Braune was born to Helmuth and Hertha (Erxleben) Braune. Glen passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at the age of 73.
After graduating from Navarro High School, Glen served in the National Guard and made a lifelong career as a mechanic. Glen volunteered for the Seguin Fire Department and, as member of St. James Catholic Church, he welcomed fellow parishioners and guests serving as an usher on Sunday mornings. In addition, Glen was a member of the Hermann Sons and a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
After retiring from Seguin Chevrolet following a dedicated career for over 50 years, Glen enjoyed making homemade lures for fishing along with hunting, working on his family farm and spending time with his grandchildren during much of his free time.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother-in-law, Elgin P. Schneider. Glen is survived by his devoted wife of more than 50 years, Irene (Doege) Braune; son, Richard Braune and Marty Gunter; son, Christopher Braune and his fiancé, Brooke Rix; daughter, Teresa Lynn Rodriguez and her husband Abel; sister, Dorothy Jean Schneider; brother, Robert Braune and his wife, Helen; sister-in-law, Mary Lee Golla and husband, Walter; brothers-in-law, Edward Doege and wife Viola; Ronald Doege and wife Doris and Donald Doege and wife, Elaine. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Kelsey Braune, Andrew, Dominic and Isaac Rodriguez along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family members and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel beginning at 5 p.m. followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. Another recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at St. James Catholic Church in Seguin followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. with Rev. Msgr. Dennis Darilek and Rev. Gregory J. Nevlud officiating. A reception will follow at Knights of Columbus Hall in Seguin until 1p.m. Graveside services and interment will follow at 2 p.m. at the Annunciation of the BVM Cemetery in St. Hedwig, Texas.
