Obituary

Glen Arthur Engeling, age 81 of Beeville, passed away on May 27, 2025.  Glen was born on January 2, 1944 in Austin, Texas to Olga (Blum) and Reverend Herman Engeling.

Reverend Engeling served as a Lutheran Pastor at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Elgin for 33 years and retired there, while Olga Engeling actively participated in the church choir, Sunday School teachers, Women of the

Church, and other community activities.

As a young boy, Glen attended Elgin schools.  He enjoyed building model airplanes, spending time in nature, exploring the outdoors, learning about wildlife, and gardening. A phenomenal gardener like his parents, he was even featured in the newspaper for his huge homegrown tomatoes.  Glen enjoyed reading about planes (especially World War II aircraft) and biology.  He owned a small plane for a brief period and took pleasure in flying friends and family on short trips.  Glen loved his dogs, doting on them and spending time relaxing with them during his retirement.  He also appreciated and told humorous stories.

He graduated from Texas Lutheran College in Seguin in December of 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.  Afterward he enlisted in the Navy and was called to duty in May of 1967.  He attended Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida, where he was commissioned as a Line Officer Ensign.  After attending flight school in Pensacola and then serving in Yorktown, Virginia as a Nuclear Weapons Officer, he completed his active duty in January of 1970.  Glen later attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the Naval Reserves, and then earned his Master's Degree in Biology/ Ecology at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos.

Glen loved teaching and taught Biology at Bee County College from 1974 to 2002p, instructing over 6,000 students throughout his career.

He married the love of his life, Leisa, in May of 1993, and they enjoyed spending time relaxing and laughing together.  Glen will be missed, and he was deeply loved by his family.

Glen is preceded in death by his twin daughters, Amy Lynn Engeling and Angela Lynn Engeling; his parents, sisters, Mary Ann Engeling Morrison and husband Lucian and Hermine Engeling Stoll and husband Marvin, brother, Karl Engeling, and niece, Sarah Stoll.

Survivors include his wife, Leisa Eileen (Kridler) Engeling, Leisa's sons, Nicholas Graumann and wife, Becky, and Travis Madsen; daughter, Kimberly Engeling-Saunders; grandchildren, Shane Graumann, Nicole Graumann, Cienna Madsen, and Cameron Saunders-Matthews; great-grandchildren, Analiea, Cruize, and Oakly Graumann; sister-in-law, Nathalie Engeling; numerous nephews, nieces, other loving family members and a host of friends.
