Gordon Wayne Seidel of Seguin, Texas passed away on the evening of March 28, 2015 doing what he loved most – spending time with his family. He was 76 years old. Gordon was born June 25, 1938 in Westhoff, Texas to Norman August Seidel and Hilda Mata Theilengardes Seidel. He grew up with one brother, Rodney and enjoyed the childhood of a country boy. He graduated from Yorktown High School in 1956 and went on to graduate from Baldwin Business College. Gordon married his high school sweetheart Joyce Mueller on June 29, 1958. The newlyweds began their married life in Yorktown where he was employed by the First National Bank. Next, Gordon and Joyce made the move to Gonzales where he began his lengthy career with Production Credit Association, eventually taking on the role of President. During retirement he returned to the banking industry – working part time at Wells Fargo with his daughter Diane.
While living and raising his family in Gonzales, Gordon made numerous contributions to his community. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and served in different capacities on various boards and councils. He was a member of the Gonzales Volunteer Fire Department, The Gonzales Lions Club, The Gonzales ISD School Board and enjoyed coaching Little League baseball. Gordon has a passion for all things country – rodeo, ranching, hunting, music and any movie or tv show with a good gun fight. He often said he could have church any time – under a tree – just him and Jesus. In later years, Gordon and Joyce enjoyed many wonderful vacations, but the highlight would have to be getting to go to the grand-daddy of all rodeos in Cheyenne Wyoming. Gordon leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 56 years Joyce and his four children – Kristie Parker (Russell) of Corinth, Texas, Diane Ratliff (Larry), Wayne Seidel (Keli) and Laurie Coleman (Tim) of Seguin. Grandchildren – Jared Parker (Christina), Kylie Gudgell (Lee), Taryn Parker, Cole McNabb, Grant Coleman, Madelyn Coleman, Sydney Seidel and Addison Seidel. He will also be missed by two great-grandsons – Bracyn Stewart who learned how to dunk a cookie from his PoPo and newborn Damon Ross Parker who just met his PoPo for the first time. He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Damon Parker.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Thursday April 2, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Phil Daniels and Stephen Clark. A reception will follow in the Life Enrichment Center. Graveside services and interment will follow at 2:30 P.M. in the Westside Cemetery in Yorktown. Serving as pallbearers will be Jared Parker, Cole McNabb, Grant Coleman, Deric Mueller, Brent White and Chase White. Honorary pallbearers will be Kylie Gudgell, Taryn Parker, Madelyn Coleman, Sydney Seidel and Addison Seidel.

And when at last our strength has failed we make our last long ride
We leave this world and take the trail across the great divide.
So when it's time to make the change we'll go where they have gone.
