IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harold Lee
Martin
July 7, 1939 – June 12, 2024
Harold Lee Martin, 84, originally of Covington, Indiana, passed from this life peacefully on June 12th, 2024, at his residence in Seguin, Texas. He represented the last of that generation of the Martin family.
Harold was born July 7, 1939, the youngest of six children to Clifford and Marvel (Osborn) Martin. All of his siblings preceded him in death: Bill, Marge, Margaret, Tom and Rosemary, along with his nephew Gary D. Martin. They grew up on the family farm outside of Covington. Harold graduated from Covington High School and married Gaye Cable in 1958. They had two daughters, Amanda Lee and Rebecca Lee. Harold and Gaye divorced in 1974.
Talking about the good times with their father included remembering snatches of songs he liked to sing, how he would tell them to "Rise and shine and greet this new day!", horseback riding, camping in Colorado and summers with the Martin clan at Lake Shafer (watching their water-skiing cousins!)--all contributing to a wonderful childhood.
Harold worked several different jobs from farming to insurance sales to working at the VA during his life and ultimately retired from Teepak in Danville, IL. Harold married Marie in 1974 and was committed to her until she passed away in 2001. He moved to Seguin, Texas soon after and was a member of Cross Church where he sang in the Choir. He was also a Mason for more than 30 years through Fountain Lodge No. 60.
His closest friend in Seguin was Sherrie Powers and they shared many good years together. For the past 2 years, he was a resident of Argent Court Assisted Living and always enjoyed his meals with Carl and Charlie.
His daughters want to thank Sherrie Powers, the staff at Argent Court, the staff of Suncrest Hospice and caregivers Tammy and Norma, who were so helpful during his final weeks.
Surviving Harold are his daughters Amanda Martin Bell (Brian) and Rebecca Lee Poudrier (Ray), as well as 3 beautiful granddaughters, Morgan, Erin and Devyn Bell and Devyn's husband, Nathan Sulya. His first wife, Gaye, preceded in him death on June 16, 2015.
"Uncle Harold Lee"-- his humor, his singing voice, and his charm — will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews from the next generation: Jack, Tom and Marsha (Marge and Ted Sims); Linda and Camilla (Bill and Rosie Martin); Terry, Sharla, Rhonda, Kevin and Sherilyn (Tom and Retha Dean Martin); Carolyn, Kenny, Bob, Raquel, and Ruthann (Rosemary and Bob Hunt); and daughters Mandy and Becky (Harold and Gaye Martin).
The Martin family will hold a celebration of life for both Harold and Gaye on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at 1p.m. at the Stultz Home, 313 N. Hickory Lane, Covington, Indiana, 47932.
