Hazel Bode Mondin, age 82 of Seguin, passed away on August 30, 2018. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Brett Becker officiating. Interment will follow in the Eden Cemetery. Hazel was born in New Braunfels, Texas on May 6, 1936 to Erwin Fritz and Wilhelmina (Wesch) Bode. A lifelong resident of Guadalupe County, Hazel was a member of the graduating Class of 1954 at Seguin High School. She worked at the Flour Mill in Seguin and then for many years at Seguin State Bank (where she was known as "Witch Hazel"). She also drove a school bus for Seguin ISD, and worked for the Guadalupe County Health and Sanitation and HEB. During "retirement" her passion was her garden and selling produce and canned goods at the Seguin Farmers Market. She did radio programs on gardening and worked closely with the Texas Agri-Life Extension Service. She thoroughly enjoyed meeting her fellow classmates at the monthly meeting of the 50's Chicks Luncheon as well as her previous co-workers at Seguin State Bank. She enjoyed being a part of Seguin Farmers Market, Agri Extension Livestock Judging Committee, Extension Livestock Advisor Board, and the Guadalupe County Fair Association (where she started the Bake-Off). She was a member of the State of Texas Farmers Market Association. Hazel was proud to hold every cookbook from the Fair Bake-Off. She was honored with the Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce Agricultural Award. She is preceded in death by her son Scott Anthony Mondin and her parents. Survivors include her children, Bradley Mondin and wife Darla, Alison Moore and husband Stan, and Sidney Mondin and wife Mona; grandchildren, Brandy Sandersen (Cliff), Brandon Mondin (Shelly), Lauren Sager, Kori Gould (Thomas), Zachary Moore, Jason Moore, and Clay Moore (Julie); great-grandchilren, Bella Sandersen, Baylynn Sandersen, Paisley Sager, Rowan Gould, Charlotte Moore, Kaylin Dahl, Jaydin Dahl, and Raiden Moore; sister, Vernelle Jones and husband Bill; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Zachary Moore, Brandon Mondin, Cliff Sandersen, Bubba Moeller, Thomas Gould and Jeff Hanselka. Honorary pallbearers will be the Class of 50's Chicks. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
