IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hector R.
De Los Santos
February 17, 1937 – March 3, 2021
Hector Romero de los Santos was called to his eternal home with our Heavenly Father on March 3, 2021 at the age of 84 years old. He was born on February 17, 1937 in New Berlin, Texas to Maria Angelina (Garza) and Benigno de los Santos.
Hector lived a full and generous life; one spent caring for and serving others. Whether he was cooking his Spanish Rice, empanadas, or preparing breakfast tacos, he was ready to freely give his time and part with what he had.
His defining qualities of magnanimity, self-discipline, servant-heartedness, and extraordinary work ethic allowed him to achieve great things in life, such as success in the restaurant business with only an eighth grade education.
He earned this strong work ethic by growing up on a farm with his family in the New Berlin area. He was incredibly dedicated to his father and mother and siblings from a young age, and caring for them taught Hector the true importance of family.
He came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in the early 1980's. Throughout the triumphs and trials of his life, Hector trusted in the power of prayer and persevered. If you knew him well enough, you knew he either prayed for you or was praying for you.
As a plant enthusiast, he could bring life to a mere ivy leaf. He knew each plant or form of plant by name, a perfect metaphor of who we are in Christ. Even if we are dead and drying up, we are known by name, through God's Living Water, all things are made new and from death comes life. His ardent faith cultivated a God fearing and God pursuing foundation for so many.
Those that remain on this earth, eagerly wait to meet him with the Savior are his children John David de los Santos of Seguin, Texas, James ( Jaime) Stephen de los Santos of Universal City, Texas, and Maria Elena Queen of Temple, Texas his 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, his siblings Rodolfo ( Rudy) de los Santos and wife Mary, Jose M. de los Santos, Maria Dora Lopez, Martha Sanchez and husband Juan, along with his nieces and nephews and those who have gone before him brothers Benigno (Benny) de los Santos and Humberto (Beto) de los Santos and (wife Lucia), Bertha de los Santos, and parents Maria Angelina Garza de los Santos and Benigno de los Santos.
He leaves a legacy of diligence, service, and generosity to those he knew. Oh how we long to experience the presence of Jesus as he has and complete the Christian pilgrimage of justification, sanctification, and now glorification. He ran his race - It was Hector's fervent hope and prayer that all would come to know and receive the redeeming love of Jesus Christ as Savior. Run your race.
Hebrews 12:1-2
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God."
