Helen O. Ramos, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, tía, and friend, was born on September 24, 1950, in Seguin, Texas, and passed away on February 3, 2026. Helen was known for her strength, independence, and the deep love she poured into her family and community.
Helen married the love of her life, Dan Delgado Jr., and together they raised two children, Veronica Sauceda and Dan Delgado III. Though she was the mother of two and grandmother of five by birth, her heart was boundless. So many were blessed to know her affectionately as Grandma Helen, a title she carried with pride and love.
Helen never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Whether she was making her famous homemade tortillas, rice, beans, picadillo, or stepping up to help with a fundraiser, Helen was always there. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and full plates—no one ever left hungry, and her children and grandchildren never wanted for anything.
She loved spending time with family and friends, especially while watching her favorite teams—the Dallas Cowboys, the San Antonio Spurs, and, as a die-hard Matador fan, she never missed an opportunity to cheer them on. Helen also enjoyed singing karaoke, cracking jokes, and was famously the loudest and proudest cheerleader at all her grandchildren’s events. Simply being present with her loved ones brought her the greatest joy.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Dan Delgado Jr.; father, Jose Ramos; son, Brian Wilson; brother, Mario Medrano; and grandmother, Juana “Ama” Duran Ortiz.
She is survived by her mother, Mayme Viesca; her children, Veronica Sauceda (Albert) and Dan Delgado III (Keri); grandchildren, Kassandra Muniz, Monica Gallagher, Robert Gallagher, Sophia E. Sauceda, Patrick Gallagher and Korey Wilson; five inherited grandchildren, Rachel, Albert, Ramon, Emily, and Andrew; her great-grandchildren, Gabriel Muniz, Emmilynn Muniz, Olivia Muniz, and Aria Muniz; her sisters Maria “Mary”, Patricia “Pat”, Rachel, Antonia “Toni”; brother, Ray “Roy” Kelley, and countless nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Pallbearers include Ruben Gomez, Raymond Aguirre, Xavier Gomez, Robert Gallagher, Patrick Gallagher, Gabriel Muniz, and Matthew Aguirre.
Helen’s legacy lives on through the many lives she touched with her kindness, generosity, humor, and unconditional love. She will forever be missed and always remembered.
