Helen Stein, age 96, of Seguin, passed away on November 9, 2017. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Brice Mandaville officiating. Interment will follow in the Elm Creek Community Cemetery. Helen was born on August 21, 1921 in Wellington, Texas to Fred and Georgia (Blasingame) Lockhart. Helen was a graduate of Mary Hardin Baylor and was a member of the President's Leadership Circle. Helen was a devoted wife and mother to her husband, Ben and children, Debbie and Dolphus, however, she was very involved in the community. Helen was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Grand Chapter of Texas Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #555, and the Texas Extension Education Association. Helen also volunteered her time for 45 years at Guadalupe Regional Medical Center as a "pink Lady", and First Baptist Church, where she attended the Esther Sunday School Class. Helen's true passion was as an artist, and she was a patron of the Seguin Art League. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ben Stein; daughter, Debbie Bacon; son, Dolphus Carlstrand; grandson, Alfred James "Chip" Bacon, Jr.; her parents; siblings, Maxine Lockhart, Estelline Irwin, Calvin Lockhart, Fred Lockhart, Billy Lockhart and Betty Faye Lockhart. Survivors include her grandchildren, Derrick Bacon and wife Joanna, Brian Bacon and wife Alexandra, Todd Carlstrand Wood and husband Chris, Holly Carlstrand, Clint Carlstrand and wife Deenay, and Ricky Moccia; great-grandchildren, Austin Bacon, Caitlyn, Addisyn, and Krue Bacon, and Haley Black; son-in-law, Alfred James Bacon, Sr.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many friends.
