Henry Edsel Bergfeld, Sr., age 87 of Seguin, passed away on June 4, 2012. Visitation will be held at Tres Hewell Mortuary on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jeremy Roy officiating. Interment will follow in Dugger Cemetery. Edsel was born on May 7, 1925, in Moulton, Texas to William A. and Virginia King Bergfeld. Edsel entered the construction business as a young man, building runways during World War II. He continued to rise in the ranks as a carpenter, foreman and finally completing his career as a General Superintendent managing several large projects. After his retirement, he joined his wife and managed Bergfeld Tool Rental. During his spare time, he managed teams of Little Leaguers and ultimately served as President of the League in Corpus Christi. He served as Scoutmaster of Troop 231 in Corpus Christi and led more than a dozen Boys to the rank of Eagle Scout. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Maxine Halm Baenziger and Mary Louise Orr. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Bernice Phillips Bergfeld; children, Henry Edsel Bergfeld, Jr. and wife Susan, Richard Allen Bergfeld and wife Cindy, George King Bergfeld and wife Edna, Col. Thomas Lee Bergfeld, USA (Ret.) and wife Kari, and Bonnie Bernice Cheatham and husband Billy; sister, Virginia Woods; brother, William A. Bergfeld, Jr.; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins. His twelve grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or to the Charity of one's choice.
