E-6 Staff Sergeant Herman Louis Herzog, US Army Ret. was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on March 1, 2009. Herman was born in Driftwood, TX to the parents of Louis Herman and Jewel Elsie (Whisenant) Herzog on Nov. 15, 1927. He served in the Korean War and the Viet-Nam War. As a retired serviceman, he was an avid outdoorsman whom loved to fish and hunt. With a marriage of 56 years, his loving wife Margot Lieselotte Herzog survives him. Herman is survived by his sons and daughter, Herman Hans Joachim Herzog, 1SG US Army,Ret. Tink Herzog and his wife Frances Herzog, Evelyn Lieselotte Lehmann and her husband Gary Scott Lehmann, and Frank Louis Herzog and his wife Irene Pacheco Herzog; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Herman is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Melvin Oscar Herzog and Ernest Louis Herzog, his sister Mildred Irene Biddy and daughter-in-law Donna Faye Hudson Herzog. Herman is survived by his brothers and sister along with their families; Jewel Viola Limmer, Franklin Delaney Herzog and his wife Ella Randow Herzog, John Paul Herzog, Robert R.E. Lee Herzog and Mildred's husband William Joseph Biddy. Graveside services and interment with full military honors will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 2:15 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Chaplain Jeremy Roy officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to charity of one's choice.
