Obituary

Herman "Cowboy" Schulz, age 62, of Seguin, passed away on October 25, 2009 in Seguin. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 2:30 to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Layne Dietz officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. "Cowboy" was born on February 21, 1947 in Seguin, Texas to Herman Troell, Sr. and Marguerite Louise Brandeberry Schulz. He served two years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for Wuest's Inc. for 9 years and Bar S Foods for 2 years as a truck driver. As a part time job, he drove a wrecker for Shanafelt Wrecker Service for many, many years. He was a mechanic for Seguin ISD Transportation for 24 years. His parents, sister, Ann May and nephew, Chucky Bittner precede him in death. Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Shirley M. Schulz; sons, Herman Lee Schulz and wife Shirley, and Richard Clay Schulz and wife Rebecca; grandchildren, Justin Lee Schulz, Kasaundra Marie Schulz, Mike Bode and family, Larry Bode and Family, Crystal Ampelas and family; sister, Myra "Kookie" Davis; sisters-in-law, Carol Nance and Deborah Rhoades; aunts, Martha Franks, Ida Mae Schulz and Elsie Linzee; numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Bode, Mike Bode, Bryan Bittner, Arvin York, John Weigand, John Gibson, Stevie Carter and Thomas Ellsworth. "Cowboy" will be remembered as a friend to everyone as he did not know a stranger. He had a huge heart and would help anyone.
