Obituary

Herman H. Vogt, age 93 of Seguin, passed away on August 12, 2012. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Walnut Street church of Christ with Pastor Alan Tullis officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at McNeil Cemetery in Luling. Mr. Vogt was born January 17, 1919 in Sabinal, TX to Arthur Gus and Edna Cora Fisher Vogt. He served with the United States Army during World War II where he received a purple heart and five bronze stars. Mr. Vogt served as a deacon and financial officer for the Walnut Street church of Christ for many years. His career was serving as the local Exxon distributor with farming and ranching interests on the side. He was active in the community serving on the Seguin School Board, Lions Club, Farm Bureau, Seguin Fire Department Board, American Legion, and supporting many youth activities. He was instrumental in much of the growth of our city and county, having lived here since 1951. He enjoyed his family, camping, hunting, fishing and eating out every Friday night.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Clark Vogt, an infant brother, and granddaughter Elizabeth Ann McGowen. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Vennis Mae Vogt; children William Vogt and wife Judy, Gary Vogt and wife Lee, and Judy Vogt Davis and husband Ralph; grandchildren Valerie Todorovich, Harold Vogt and wife Jennifer, Brian Vogt, Stuart Vogt, Justin Vogt and wife Mandy, Brittany Davis and husband Garrett, and Natali Davis and fiancé Kyle Maness; great-grandchildren Natasha and Nick Todorovich, Meredith, Christopher, and William Vogt and Chandler and McKenna Vogt; bonus grandchildren Deanise and Rob Koenig, Nicole and James Rodriguez, Vicki and Jake Pringle, Jamie and Eric Calvert, and Jo Marie Wilke; 11 bonus great-grandchildren; 2 nieces and numerous other loving family members. Memorial contributions may be made to the Walnut Street church of Christ, 1351 E. Walnut Street, Seguin, TX 78155, the McNeil Cemetery, P. O.
