Hortensia Rodriguez passed on Friday November 2, 2018 at the age of 94, surrounded by family.
Hortensia was born on November 20, 1923 to Cruz and Eluteria Martinez of Seguin. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years Luis, sons, Roberto, Luis Noe, daughter Beatrice Gann, her parents and brother, Jose Martinez.  She was a loving mother who cared deeply for her children. She enjoyed cooking, collecting dishes, embroidery, needlepoint and taking in neglected dolls and refurbishing them and creating new clothes for them. She loved being outside and caring for all her flowers. She would read the Bible daily for comfort and inspiration.
She is survived by daughters Elida Suarez (husband John), and Cynthia Rodriguez; sons, Rodolfo Rodriguez (wife Laura), Abel Rodriguez (wife Elisa), and Ruben Rodriguez; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and one great- great grandson. The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Frets, Dr. William Craig, Marcelina Martinez and the Guadalupe Regional Hospital Hospice Service for caring for her and seeing to her needs through the years.  The recitation of the memorial holy rosary will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church followed by the memorial mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Private interment will be held at a later date at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center Hospice Services, 1215 Court Street, Seguin, Texas, 78155.
