Inez "Chato" Contreras, Jr. age 57 of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. He was born on May 28, 1966 in Seguin to Inez L. Contreras, Sr. and Maria (Magana) Salas.

He was a 1984 graduate of Holmes High School in San Antonio, Texas and moved to Denton, Texas in 1985.

He is preceded in death by his father, his grandparents, Angelita and Eliberto Magana, Amelia and Pedro Contreras, and his nephew, Luis Lugo Jr.

Survivors include his mother, Maria Salas (Ray); sisters, Sylvia Martinez and husband Joe, Beatrice Smith and Elaine Gamboa; step-sister, Lucy Salas; nieces and nephews, Monica, Paula, Clarissa, Mandy, Armando Pena III, Danielle, Delissa and Jacob; his loving companion, Shelly Dabbs, as well as numerous other cousins other loving family members and many friends.

Chato will be fondly remembered for being a loving son, brother and uncle. He was a dedicated construction worker. In his free time, you would normally find Chato enjoying different Flea Markets or fishing. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs Fan.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Caring Hands Hospice of San Antonio, especially his nurse, Marina Herrera for the loving care they took of Chato.

Visitation will begin on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary with the recitation of the Holy Rosary staring at 6:30 p.m. A procession will depart Tres Hewell Mortuary on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. for the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Torres, Jose Contreras, Pete Contreras Jr., Mario Rosario Contreras, Pete Magallanez, Johnny Magana, Gilbert Magana, and Greg Gallardo.
