Jack Douglas Johnson, age 93 of San Antonio passed away August 13,2024. He was born in the Overby Community, Karnes County Texas to Walter and Ruth Johnson on December 12, 1930.
After graduation from Karnes City High School in 1949. He worked for a brief time at HEB in Kenedy, Texas. In 1950 he enlisted in the Air Force and did his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He would serve nearly twenty-four years and retired in 1974.
On March 17, 1952, he married his high school sweetheart Leola Jauer. They were married seventy-two years. Together they moved around the country during his military career.
Jack loved polka dancing and traveling across the country going to polka fests. He loved working in their yard and watching politics on tv.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife of seventy-two years Leola Johnson, his parents, brothers, Blanton Johnson and Junior Johnson, sisters, Gladys Pendley, and Evelyn Tripoli.
Jack is survived by his daughter Diane Winton (Steve); son Dennis Johnson (Wynne); granddaughters Stacey Winton, Julie Cruz and Melanie Malone; six great grandchildren; sister, Shirley White; brother, Larry Johnson (Carol); and many other loving family members and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with the Reverend Jeremy Roy officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
