Jack W. Scales, age 74 of Seguin, passed away on February 1, 2012. Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2012 at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Brice Mandaville officiating. Interment will follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Jack was born on September 25, 1937 in San Antonio Texas to Alvin Watt Scales, Jr. and Frances Elizabeth Barnes Scales. Jack and his mother were founding members of Trinity Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School Class of 1955. He married Nona Kay Chandler in 1957 while attending Baylor University where he graduated with a B.B .A. in 1959. He was Chamber of Commerce Manager in Kenedy and then in 1962 moved to Seguin where he managed the chamber and later began his insurance career with Donegan Insurance. Jack was active in various organizations including the Salvation Army for 48 years, SISD School Board, Seguin High School Booster Club, Kiwanis Club, and donor to the Seguin Pregnancy Center. Jack was honored to serve as treasurer, trustee, usher, Sunday School Secretary and numerous other committees at First Baptist Church in Seguin. He loved Golf and assisting at Starcke Park, His Baylor Bears, Coffee and Donuts at the Donut Palace and most especially, time with family. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Alvin Watt Scales, III and Woody Scales. Survivors include his wife Nona Kay Scales; daughters, Tambi Pahmeier and husband Gene and Carri Bevil and husband John; grandchildren, Jonathan Pahmeir, Cade Mercer, Michaela Mercer, Brad Bevil and wife Lesley, Ashley Head and husband Win, Cody, Embry, and Farley Bevil; sister-in-law, Sue Smith and husband Carlton; numerous nieces and nephews, other loving family members and a host of friends.
