Obituary

Jacquelyn Marie Louise Doerfler Koehler, age 82 of Seguin passed away on August 16, 2014. She was born on August 29, 1931 in Seguin to John Mathias "Jack" and Lydia Heinrich Doerfler. Jackie, as she was affectionately known, graduated from Seguin High School and attended Texas Lutheran College where she met Charles Lee Koehler, the love of her life. She began her young married life as a supportive wife, mother, and friend, eventually joining Charles in the family business as secretary/bookkeeper. Jackie inherited her love of gardening from her mother. Upon retirement, Jackie was able to pursue things that were true to her sweet, gentle, and generous spirit: serving as a volunteer at the Christian Cupboard, the Salvation Army, GRMC and the Family Violence Center. During her earlier years she supported her children's activities through the PTA, Cub Scouts and Sunday School. She and Charles have been members in the Convivial Supper Club for over 50 years. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church, playing a key role in the naming of the church and the early organization. Survivors include her loving husband who she married in 1950, Charles Lee Koehler; children, Steve and Barbara Koehler, Jeff and Melissa Koehler, Greg and Kaye Koehler and Nancy Koehler; grandchildren, Matt and Lacy Koehler, Alison and Major Stoney Portis, Jared and Cassie Koehler, Weston and Brittany Koehler, Ivy and Dan Meehan, and Madison Koehler; great grandchildren, Braden and Landon Koehler, Jackson Koehler and Leif Portis; sister, Pat Gray; sister-in-law, Ann Koehler; 2 nieces and 5 nephews, Lee Ann Gray, Patrick Gray, Rick Haas, Rodger Koehler, Carol Koehler Smith, Kevin Koehler and Kerry Koehler; best friend, Doris Rinn and her family; and a host of friends, some of whom she has known for her 82 years. She is preceded in death by her parents and parents-in-laws Rose and Bruno Koehler, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Travis Gray, Rose and Al Hinz, Marilyn and Ed Haas, Wallace Koehler, Peggy Koehler, and niece Susan Koehler.
