James (Jim) R. Linsey, age 83, of Seguin, passed away on September 27, 2008. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 from 12 to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services with full military honors will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at Faith Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. William Lange and Rev. Tim Bauerkemper officiating. Interment will be private at a later date. Jim was born on September 7, 1925 in Jasper, Texas to James Houston and Edna J. Smith Linsey. He retired from service in the United States Air Force. He was a 50 year mason and belonged to the Guadalupe Masonic Lodge #109 A.F. and A.M. He was actively involved in the American Legion HU Wood Post #245 for over 50 years. He also retired from United Cotton Goods of Seguin. Jim will always be remembered for wearing a bright red shirt, a tradition he started while calling out Bingo at the old American Legion Hall many years ago. His parents precede him in death. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Ruby Schievelbein Linsey; daughters, Ramona Kuehne and husband, Andy and Roxanne Heckmann; his "favorite granddaughter", LeAnne Heckmann and "favorite grandson" Andrew Kuehne; brothers, Cliff S. Linsey and wife, Lina, Darwin D. Linsey and wife, Wanda, and Merle Ellis Linsey and companion, Elissa Johnson; sister, Shirley Ruth Masterson; brothers-in-law, Robert Lee Schievelbein and Edgar Schievelbein, Jr., and wife Anna Marie; numerous loving nieces and nephews. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the members of the American Legion HU Wood Post #245 and the American Legion HU Wood Post #245 Auxiliary. Active pallbearers will be Bryan Schievelbein, Randy Schievelbein, Winn Dale Linsey, Spencer Davis, Marvin Hastings and Bobby Schneider.
