Obituary

James "Jimmy" Rumpf passed into eternal praise of His Savior, Jesus Christ, while at home in Seguin, Texas, on September 7, 2020, only a few days before his 66 th birthday.   He was born in Chicago, Illinois, September 29, 1954.  When Jimmy was a young child, he moved to Texas with his mother.  After his mother died in 1996, Jim moved to Seguin where he lived with or near his cousin, Linda Z. Anderson and her husband, Clifton, and their five children, who loved and cared for Jimmy the rest of his life as his surrogate family.

Though handicapped with cerebral palsy and intellectual deficits, Jimmy lived his life as an evangelist, sharing the Love and Gospel of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, through his kindness and selfless concern for others.  Though Jimmy did not read, he was often seen with his Bible open in his lap when he was relaxing in his room.  He loved going to Bible studies and church and was always one of the first to respond when there was an alter call for prayer.  When asked by a group of little children as to why he couldn't talk, walk or run like they did, Jimmy conveyed in his simple manner that it was just a special way that God used him and that someday he would be healed and have a new body.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, Leo Rumpf, and mother, Lillian Zurovec Phillips.  Jimmy is survived by his surrogate family, cousins, Linda Z. Anderson and husband, Clifton; Chad Anderson and wife, Kelly, and children; Joshua Anderson and wife, Lisa, and children; Christa Green and husband, Trey, and children; Sara Herrell and husband, Christopher, and children; and Levi Anderson and wife, Grace, and son.  Jimmy is also survived by two of his mother's siblings, Lucille Zurovec Dill and Cyril Zurovec, plus a multitude of other loving cousins and friends.  He will also be missed by his companion dog, Snickers, who brought him much happiness.  She was cuddled in Jimmy's lap when he took his last breath.

A Celebration of Life service is planned for Saturday, September 26, 2020, at Lifegate Chapel, Seguin, Texas, at 4 PM.  A private ceremony will be held for Jimmy's interment beside his mother at the Bangs Cemetery in Bangs, Texas.
