IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James W.
Wiley
November 5, 1939 – April 5, 2024
James W. Wiley, age 84 of Stockdale, passed away on April 5, 2024. James was born on November 5, 1939 in Stockdale, Texas to Lois Maddie (Caraway) and Edkar George Wiley.
He attended Stockdale High School. He loved going dancing and having fun with his friends and sweetheart. He was married for 63 ½ years to Estella, the love of his life. He lived in Fischer for 25 years before moving back to the family homestead in Stockdale.
He was the best blade man on building roads for Saur Construction as a heavy equipment operator for 35 years. He worked to finish and smooth the roads to perfection. Prior to that, he worked at Mission Valley Mills. James was slow and meticulous and always did the best job.
His true passion involved raising cattle and working the land. He enjoyed checking cattle and writing all of his cattle records down in his little pocket book. He loved to fish and was the most patient of fixing lines and baiting the hooks. He was considered to be quiet, but he never was quiet about how much he loved their kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. His family was the true joy of his life and he spent his retirement going to ball games, cattle shows, coast trips, and school ceremonies. They loved Pampaw and he made sure that they knew just how much he loved them back.
James is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Virgil Wayne Wiley, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Hugo and Elsie (Scharmann) Fey.
Survivors include his loving wife, Estella (Fey) Wiley; children, Terri Grimsley (Brent), and Keith Wiley (Julie); grandchildren, Dustyn Cox (Allison), Blayse Cox (Lindsey), Brooklyn Wiley, Addison Wiley, Kennedy Wiley, Piper Wiley, Mason Grimsley, Jadon Grimsley, and Selynda Grimsley; great- grandchildren, Grace Cox, Kinsley Cox, Hayden Cox, McKinley Cox, and Karter Cox; siblings, Linda Wiley Hildebrand; sister-in-law, Donna Wiley; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many friends.
