Janeen Martha Lyn Grein Towery passed away on March 19, 2018 at the age of 79. She was born to Van Grein and Arabelle Koehler Grein on August 12, 1938 in Seguin, Texas.

Janeen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a woman of grace. She was a member of The Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

On November 10, 1957, Janeen married her high school sweetheart, Sonny Jack Towery. Together they shared many adventures traveling across the United States in their RV and meeting lifelong friends along the way. They especially loved to retreat to their home in Ruidoso, New Mexico during the hot Texas months. Janeen loved to call her Texas family and friends to let them know how cool the weather was with a little giggle.

Janeen was a woman of many interests; including four wheeling, Spurs basketball, mystery novels, gardening and landscaping. She enjoyed crafts and designed beautiful stone jewelry, wind chimes, and unique handbags. There was not a craft she could not master or create a beautiful artistic object from.

After her retirement as an International Coordinator for Champion Chemical Company in Houston, TX, Janeen and Sonny retired at their lake house in Huntsville, Texas. It was there she enjoyed watching her granddaughters grow up as they played make-believe, help bake cookies, build forts in the living room and put on plays, recitals, and cheer and dance shows for her and Sonny. Her granddaughters could also trust that she would provide a golf cart ride to the local marina to share an ice cream sandwich without their parents knowing.

Above all, Janeen loved her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking and entertaining for her family. She cherished talking and spending time with her granddaughters and great-grandson while soaking in all their accomplishments and hearing stories of their day-to-day lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Van Grein and Arabelle Grein; her brother, James H. Grein and grandson Taylor Charles Towery.

Janeen is survived by her husband Sonny J. Towery; children, Scott Towery (Connie) of Corpus Christi, TX, Chris Towery (Delane) of Houston, TX, and Wade Towery of Houston; 6 grandchildren, Tara Towery Moore (Daniel), Tamara Towery, Hannah Towery, Victoria Tucker (Caleb), Hailey Towery and Madison Towery; great-grandson, Lake Wilson of Corpus Christi; and sister Jill Grein of McQueeny, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. The recitation of the of the Holy Rosary will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Msgr. Dennis Darilek officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Towery, Chris Towery, Wade Towery, Caleb Tucker, Rip Childres, and Colton Chancy. Honorary pallbearer will be Lake Wilson. Private interment will be held at a later date in St. James Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Catholic Church, 510 S. Camp St., Seguin, Texas, 78155.
