Obituary

Jean Blanch Hay Prentiss, age 88 of Seguin, passed away on December 10, 2021.  Jean was born in Elmendorf, Texas on November 13, 1933 to Edith (Townsend) and Lee Oran Hay.

Jean had such a sweet spirit but could also stand her ground for something she wanted or something she didn't want as well. She so loved spending time with her family and her common welcome of "Hello Darlin!" will truly be missed! There are many fond memories of Jean being surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren. She played a competitive game of cards and dominoes and had an eye for the slot machines too. Jean also loved to travel and most of the time just getting in the car and driving from place to place. Back in her day, Jean owned an antique shop and enjoyed traveling around and shopping for antiques. She also loved old country music with Conway Twitty being her favorite. If anyone brought her a coke along with peanuts and chocolate, you made her day as these were some of her favorite treats!

Jean is preceded in death by her husband Jack Elmo Prentiss, her prior husband Edward Arnold, her children, Janet Hartmangruber, Glenn Prentiss, her daughter-in-law, Bit Prentiss, grandchildren, Ian Pogue and Daniel Reynolds, her parents, and her brothers, Robert Calloway and Lee Oran Hay, Jr.

Survivors include her children, Jack Wayne Prentiss, Patti Smith and husband Mike, Rhonda Metz and husband Rick; Susan Lopez and husband Bernie, Debbee Pundt and husband Calvin, Mike Arnold and wife Sam, and Jackie Thomsen and husband Chris; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Tres Hewell Mortuary, from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Chaplain Michael Bartley officiating.  Graveside services and interment will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 3 p.m. at the Magnolia Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Magnolia Texas.
