JEREMY MICHAEL MONROE

10/21/1984 – 1/22/2026

Jeremy Michael Monroe was born 10/21/1984 and passed away Thursday, 1/22/2026. He was born in Chesterfield, MO, a suburb of St. Louis, at 2:20 on a Sunday afternoon. His parents were Janet Coley Monroe and Marcus Monroe. Big brother: Marcus Jordan Monroe. He loved baseball and excelled in the sport. He played several positions, including first base, third base, some outfield, and pitched occasionally. He was a decent hitter and played several times on his little league All Star team.

His dream was to play professional baseball until he was seriously injured in a car crash in July of 2001. His life was altered by the injuries he sustained in that wreck. He attended schools in the Judson School District and graduated from Judson High School in 2003. He also participated in the traumatic brain injury program at Easter Seals in San Antonio and was active in the Alamo Head Injury Association for several years.

He attended St. Phillip’s College briefly, studying Auto Mechanics. Jeremy always had a passion for animals and was human to Gordan a springer spaniel/Australian Shepherd, and King, a Great Pyrenees/Staffordshire Terrier mix.

Jeremy enjoyed fishing and was looking forward to spending time at Cranes Mill Marina near his new home. Growing up, Jeremy spent many hours fishing with his Poppop (Grandfather Coley) and brother Marcus at spots around Seguin. One of their favorites was Hot Shots at Lake McQueeney, where the main catch was perch. They would also frequent the Guadalupe River (usually at Starcke Park). MomMom always eagerly awaited their return, ready to clean the fish and prepare the evening meal (one of her favorite activities).

Jeremy also really liked spending time dove hunting with his brother and sometimes even his mom. Skateboarding also held a special place in Jeremy’s heart. His nickname while participating in the activity was Kool Aid. He often still enjoyed carrying a board with him.

Indoors, Jeremy was a skilled pool (billiards) player. He participated on several teams for local bars (pubs, “drinking” establishments). Recently, he took part in online pool tournaments. He also played online poker and monopoly, and occasionally a word game.

He worked for a number of years as a ranch hand with his Uncle Herb at Herb and Stephanie’s place, Cedar Rock Ranch, a job he appreciated and enjoyed. Jeremy also worked at a company that specialized in providing items and repairs for trucks and trailers in Converse; a Seguin pest control company as a technician; for the City of Seguin in the grounds department; and for a New Braunfels moving company, as a professional mover. About the moving company experience – he frequently used an Arnold Schwarzenegger accented voice to explain ‘I pick things up an’ put dem down…’ He also found pleasure in describing the science of loading items and boxes in a truck for proper weight distribution for safety of the items and the truck.

He took great pride in living at his family’s portion of his grandmother Coley’s birthplace at Germann Farm, outside of Seguin, from early 2004 to September 2025. He recently moved to his new home at Canyon Lake and was settling in. He particularly enjoyed the deer, squirrels, and birds that frequented his property, especially a woodpecker and numerous cardinals.

Jeremy is survived by his mother, Janet Sherman; Weldon Sherman, stepfather; brother Marcus Jordan Monroe and wife Tressa; stepbrother S. Zachry Sherman, and wife Ashley; Emma Monroe, niece; Marcus J. Monroe, Jr., nephew; Aidan Sherman, nephew; Zoe Sherman, niece; uncle Herb Coley, and wife Stephanie; and Shelley Mayfield Carr, aunt; many cousins and a number of close friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marcus; grandparents, Edna and Joseph H. (Herb) Coley; and Virginia Monroe and O.M. Monroe.

Jeremy will be dearly missed by those who loved him.
