Obituary

Jesse Edwin Ewald, age 84 of Marion, passed away on April 23, 2014. Visitation will begin on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Redeemer United Church at Zuehl followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Lee Zillmann officiating. Interment will follow in the Redeemer United Church Cemetery at Zuehl. Jesse was born on December 31, 1929 in Guadalupe County Texas to Louis and Frieda (Seelk) Ewald. Jesse proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He will be remembered as a farmer. He enjoyed polka dancing and dominoes. He is preceded in death by his wife Velma, his infant son Roger Ewald, his parents, his brothers, Helmuth Ewald and wife Elfrieda, Robert Ewald and Martin Ewald. Survivors include his sisters, Valeska Meyer and Viola Krueger; brother, Fred Ewald and wife Glendora; sisters-in-law, Lucille Ewald, and Penny Johnson and husband Jack; step-sons, Ron Nefford and wife Lisa, and Fred Nefford; step-grandchildren, Travis Nefford and wife Lindsay, Tracey Nefford, Christopher Nefford, Carrie Anne Porter, Andrea Nefford and fiancé Joe, and Eric Page; numerous step-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Serving as pallbearers will be Gerald Ewald, Mike Krueger, Lynn Meyer, Christopher Nefford, Jeff Krueger and Brian Morris. The family would like to thank everyone at Autumn Winds Retirement Lodge in Schertz including their staff and residents and Optum Hospice for their loving care of Jesse.     Memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer United Church, 7415 Gin Road, Marion, Texas, 78124.
