Jesse B. Head, age 83 of Seguin, passed away June 7, 2008 in San Antonio. Mr. Head was born January 31, 1925 in Grandfield, OK to George and Ellen Head. Jesse loved football and was offered a college scholarship in football, however he decided to join the United States Navy. He served in the Navy during WWII in the South Pacific at Iwo Jima. Following his military service he took some bookkeeping courses and began offering horse training services. Jesse built several horse stables in San Antonio. He served as foreman of the survey crew for the Texas Highway Department. His love of horses led him to become a professional horse trainer and a professional judge at many registered horse shows. His passion was in teaching youth how to rope and ride and he always made time to serve as a judge at any 4H or open show. After leaving the Texas Highway Department , he concentrated solely on professional horse training. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Audrey Dell Lee. Survivors include his wife, Susan Head; children, Jesse John Head, Marsha Brown and husband Bill, Gina Touchstone, Jesse Byron Head, Jr. and wife Vicki and Cary Darlene Dornak; eight grandchildren and brothers, George D. Head and Roy K. Head and wife, Carolyn. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Prairie Lea United Methodist Church in Prairie Lea, Texas. A Memorial Benefit in his honor will be held on June 22, 2008 from 2 p.m-8 p.m. at the Old Country Cabaret, 839 FM 467 in Seguin with performance by Two Way Street, the Traits and guests Roy, Don, and Sundance Head and Natalie Rose Capparelli.
