Jesse Anderson Turner, Jr., age 91 of Seguin, passed away on May 30, 2013. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel followed by services at 2 p.m. with Pastor Butch Ikels officiating. Interment with military honors under the auspices of the American Legion H.U. Wood Post 245 will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery. Jesse was born on June 18, 1921 in Seguin, Texas to Jesse Anderson Turner, Sr. and Edna Halm Turner. He was a graduate of the San Marcos Baptist Academy where he was known as the "Flying Dutchman". For his great athletic skills he was inducted into the San Marcos Baptist Academy Ex-Student Association Athletic Hall of Fame. Jesse proudly served his country in the Army Air Corp during World War II on Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands. Jesse, Jr. and Isabel Inez Boenig were married on November 19, 1947. He will be remembered as the former owner of the Smokehouse in Seguin where he made a great pot of Chili. He later worked for the City of Seguin as a water plant operator and retired in the early 90s. He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Isabel Inez Turner, his grandson, Rodney John Brandenberger, and his parents. Survivors include his loving daughter, Cindy Lynn Merrill; grandson, Justin Christopher Brandenberger and wife Lindsay; sister, Geraldine Brawner; nieces, Dee Dee Burch, Gerry Brawner and Joyce Boenig Harborth; nephew, Allen Boenig and wife Gloria; special friend, Michael Earl; numerous other loving family members and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Brandenberger, John Upper, Allen Boenig, Kurt Newton, Dwayne Gerlich, Ronnie Ridge, Dusty Boenig and Walker Campbell.
