Obituary

Jo Anne Taylor Machaud passed away peacefully on Feb 15, 2026 at age 73 following a long illness. She was a devoted follower of Christ. She shared her faith through kindness, compassion and an unyielding trust in God's plan.

Jo Anne was born in San Antonio on April 19, 1952. She graduated from Robert E Lee High School class of 1970 and went on to study math at Texas State University, graduating in 1974. She began her career as a computer programmer at USAA. It was in San Antonio that she met her husband, Mark, and they were married in 1981, going on to have two children. She put her career on hold to stay at home and become a wonderful and dedicated mother. After raising her family, Jo Anne resumed her career as a high school math teacher where she worked with students in homebound programs, alternative learning environments, and even a juvenile detention center. She also would occasionally substitute teach.

Jo Anne's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was the heart of the home, supporting her children and their activities. Her children were her priority and proudest achievement, and she was present for every moment of their lives. Jo Anne had an open-door policy, with many of her children's friends considering her as their second mom, so much so that they often accompanied the family on trips and vacations. Later she cherished time with her four grandsons and especially enjoyed being a cheering fan at all their athletic games. With four grandsons in multiple sports at once, she could often be found at one game but also watching another grandson's game live on her phone. Sometimes she would follow the teams to baseball tournaments across the country, never wanting to miss a moment.

Throughout her life Jo Anne had a love of animals and her pets. She welcomed any stray cat or dog into her home, and they quickly became part of the family. While she never made it known, quiet donations were provided to people with pets in need of assistance. From vet bills to pet supplies, if there was an animal in need, Jo Anne would be there to help. She believed every animal deserved to feel wanted, cared for, and loved.

Jo Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Ruth Taylor, and her brother Russell Taylor. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Mark, son Wm. Colby Machaud and wife Joni, daughter Natalie Stridde and husband Kenton, her four precious grandsons Jackson and Carson Machaud and Bowie and Waylon Stridde, and brother Ronald Taylor.

A memorial service will be held March 16, 2026, at 1:00 pm at University Methodist Church, 5084 DeZavala Rd. in San Antonio.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Guadalupe County Humane Society, PO Box 1593, Seguin, TX 78155-1593 or the San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition, PO Box 692308, San Antonio 78269-2308.
