Obituary

Jo Ann Davis Weldon, age 83 of McQueeney, formerly of Corpus Christi passed away on November 22, 2011. Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Seguin, with Rev. Steve Purdy officiating. A reception will follow in First Methodist Church Christian Life Center. Private interment will be held at a later date. She was born on May 15, 1928 in Longdale, Oklahoma to Clark and Christine Keenan Davis, and later moved to Pasadena, California where she graduated from Pasadena Junior College. She attended the University of Texas in Austin, Texas where she met her beloved husband of sixty-four years, Charles Weldon. Prior to retiring to McQueeney, Texas they resided in Corpus Christi for thirty-three years. She was a member of Chi-Omega Sorority. Jo Ann loved flowers and plants and enjoyed visiting beautiful gardens everywhere. She loved the view of Lake Placid at her home in McQueeney, Texas, and spent a great deal of time in later years looking at the birds and squirrels and wildlife. She was a member of the Seguin Conservation Society, the Seguin Study Club and the Lazy Daisy Garden Club. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and loved going when she was able. She enjoyed her family and friends immensely. She enjoyed entertaining them in her home and cooking was one of her hobbies. She was preceded in death by her parents and her mother-in-law, Ida Stevenson Vernon and husband Bill Vernon and father-in-law Forrest Weldon and wife Wanda. She is survived by her husband Charles Weldon and her son Clark Pierce Weldon and wife Kimberly and son Steven Forrest Weldon and wife Lorie and beloved friend Ann Saegert Adams and grandchildren, Jace, Kacy, Zackary Weldon, and Kelly Haverland and husband Paul and great-grandson Jake Haverland, and many nephews and nieces. She was appreciative of the kind attention of her friends from First United Methodist Church and from Pastor Steve Purdy. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 710 N. Austin, Seguin, Texas, 78155, to the Seguin Conservation Society, P. O. Box 245, Seguin, Texas, 78156 or to the Mid Texas Symphony, P. O. Box 3216 TLU, Seguin, Texas, 78155.
