Jo Ann Zurovec Friesenhahn, age 78 of New Braunfels, passed away on May 30, 2013. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 2 to 8:30 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The recitation of the rosary will be held on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. followed by the mass of Christian burial at 9:30 at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Dennis Darilek officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date. Jo Ann was born on September 23, 1934 in San Antonio, Texas to Joe M. and Delta Mae Blankenburg Zurovec. Jo Ann accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was an active member in St. James Catholic Church as an ACTS Team leader and a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court #2505. As a young woman, after completing Business College, Jo Ann moved to Houston where she worked at Wilson Supply Company until, in later years, she returned to help her parents move their dairy business to Seguin. She was instrumental in the success of several businesses conducted in the Seguin-New Braunfels area. Jo Ann loved her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and was sacrificially devoted to caring for their best interests. Making candied apples and "giant" cookies, along with playing Bunco, a game she learned as a child, were some of her favorite pastimes. She is preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years, Clarence Lee Friesenhahn; son, John Friesenhahn and wife Debbie; daughter, Clariece Wiles and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Eric Friesenhahn, Darcy Friesenhahn, Hunter Leigh-Ann Wiles, Neal Friesenhahn, and Austyn Wiles; brother, Terry Zurovec and wife Rosemary; sister, Linda Anderson and husband Clifton; brother-in-law, Lawrence Friesenhahn and wife Virgina; aunts and uncles: Lucille Dill, Dorothy Zurovec, Cyril Zurovec and wife Helen and Julia Scheffler and husband Charles; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and friends.
